John Del Cecato joined AKP&D in 2001, helping develop strategy, message, and television advertisements for numerous clients, including Philadelphia Mayor John Street, Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT), Herb Kohl (D-WI), and Barack Obama (D-IL), the New York Attorney General campaigns of Eliot Spitzer and Andrew Cuomo, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s 2006 independent expenditure program.

Prior to joining the firm, Del Cecato served as Communications Director for Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer’s New York City 2001 mayoral campaign.

Previously, Del Cecato was the national spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in Washington, DC. He also served as Communications Director for the Iowa Democratic Party on behalf of Gov. Tom Vilsack’s successful 1998 campaign, and was Press Secretary to Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA) in Washington.

Del Cecato got his start in politics with House Democratic Leader Richard Gephardt (D-MO) in 1993.

He has guest lectured on the political process at the University of Virginia, George Washington University, Columbia University, Hunter College, and his alma mater, Northwestern University. He has appeared on FOX News, C-SPAN, and CNN's Inside Politics, and served as a weekly contributor to New York One's consultants’ roundtable.

Del Cecato directs AKP&D’s New York office, and resides in Manhattan.
